“Jon is an engaging facilitator and trainer who I have worked with both as co-presenter on our in-house Leadership and Management programs and as a client for a number of short courses he has run with Griffith University over the last 12 years. He has a gift for working with people and an amazing memory for remembering participants. He is an expert in connecting and making people feel part of a program or session and getting them involved. I would highly recommend Jon as a facilitator or coach for any training or leadership program.”

“Our company was in a rapid growth phase in terms of revenue and staff numbers. We needed a clear vision and sense of purpose and we needed it to be understood by all of our team and our major external stakeholders. Jon facilitated workshops which to this day still provide our team with guidance and clarity to why we do what we do, and how we can work better together. I would highly recommend Jon to anyone looking to improve the “why we do it”.””

“St Patrick’s College Townsville engaged Jon at a time when the school was embarking on a journey of school renewal. He worked with all staff to identify and strengthen our own unique school culture and also conducted workshops specifically to build senior and middle leadership capacity. Jon is an expert in the delivery of evidence-based research that empowers school communities in a positive way. He draws on years of experience to provide real examples to communicate his message. Jon has a most engaging style; he is humorous and honest and quick to develop a rapport with each and every person in the room which enables him to have a very significant impact.”

“Dear Jon, Just a quick email to say thank you again for running the leadership course at UQ yesterday. Before I came, I made a promise to myself to contribute as much as possible, despite being an inveterate introvert. I am very happy to say that I got a huge amount out of the course, and I am already reaping the benefits of improved management and communication within the lab. But, surprisingly, I also learnt a lot about myself and ways in which I can better use the techniques we discussed in my personal life, which (especially after yesterday’s discussion on emotional intelligence) was a revelation to me! So, thanks again, it was fun”.

“At most venues, it takes some time to warm up participants. As soon as we walked in the door at Foresight Learning, MSC participants felt relaxed & inspired by the surroundings & were ready to go.”

“Jon worked with our Heads of Faculty as we have embarked on a Leadership Development Program. Working with Jon was reassuring and encouraging. He was able to contextualise his insight and experience to suit the needs of our school and faculty leaders. He was genuinely interested in each person, had great respect for them as professionals, showed understanding of a wide and diverse range of leadership scenarios and was able to offer constructive and practical advice built on current research. All in all, this professional development for our leaders was very worthwhile! Thankyou!”

“I have had the privilege of experiencing Jon’s coaching and training assistance for over 15 years (i.e. since 2000) and across 3 different Organisations in the Aged and Community Services Industries. The main things I value from Jon is his focus on really understanding the needs he his commissioned to support, his relaxed and comfortable style and his wealth of knowledge and diversity of tools and visual aides to help people reach some self-awareness and capability to change.
Jon also assisted me with the forming stage of a new team I headed up and in helping us to focus on our strategies to make a difference within the Team and in our Service delivery.
The fact that we still utilise Jon’s repertoire of skills is testimony itself to the Man and is demonstrated continually in the outcomes from his involvement.”

“I have no hesitation in recommending Jon as one of the most skilled and experienced consultants providing services to the Higher Education sector. I engaged Jon over many years to facilitate public SD workshops over a wide range of topics, specific leadership/management activities, and as a management consultant working to individual managers within the University. I also engaged Jon in many similar activities as part ot the ATEM (Association of Tertiary Education Management). Jon has a wide range of abilities, one foremost is his ability to engage developers, clients, and participants. I have also had some (few but hopefully more) opportunities to work with him as co-facilitator….excellent”

“Our aim for the workshops that Jon facilitated for us was to produce a new Library Strategic Plan. Because the Library had not undertaken any major planning activity for some years, we felt it was important to establish a base of agreed values with all staff before moving on to strategic planning. We made a deliberate decision to run two types of workshops: the first, called the Values Workshop, to establish an agreed platform; the second, called the Strategic Planning Workshop, to develop strategies for the future.
The process worked very well. The Values Workshops, held on two consecutive days to allow all staff to be involved, produced agreed values, a new Library Purpose Statement, and suggestions for a slogan. Jon created a supportive atmosphere in which all staff felt they could contribute ideas. The process of voting for preferred values and statements worked well because staff could see the immediate results of their work. We achieved good outcomes from both days, but as importantly everyone enjoyed the process. There was much laughter and instead of feeling drained by the end of the day, people felt energised. There seemed to be a real sense of ownership of the outcomes.
The Strategic Planning Workshop held one week later again produced good results in a pleasant atmosphere. The workshop was open to all staff who wished to attend plus some invited stakeholders. Jon demonstrated his flexibility by changing our planned approach mid-morning in response to group feedback. He kept us focussed all day, and encouraged us through the more difficult parts.
Feedback from staff indicated that they had appreciated Jon’s inclusive manner, support for their suggestions, and his sense of humour. The whole process seems to have changed the view of many staff about the nature of planning. There now seems to be an appreciation that the planning process has value for all staff, that everyone can be involved, and that the outcomes are meaningful for day-to-day work.”
